We are delighted to share that Denise Michela Milice  a Southern Africa Research Capacity Network (SOFAR) fellow with Instituto Nacional de Saúde (INS) in Mozambique, has begun PhD studies in Public Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

Her research focuses on assessing health system readiness for the integration of tuberculosis (TB) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) services in Mozambique. Specifically, she will explore the prevalence of T2D among people with TB, stratified by demographic and clinical factors, and examine readiness across macro, meso, and micro levels of care.

Through this work, she aims to contribute to improving access to and the quality of TB services, particularly for individuals living with TB and chronic comorbidities such as T2D. This research also provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen her skills while addressing one of Mozambique’s priority health research areas.
